7:30 PM: PROGRAM: North through Alaska's Gates of the Arctic
In July, 2005, four of the White Pine Group's EXCOM experienced some of Alaska's raw wilderness. Barb Cooey, Becky Reisch, Joe Garrity, and Dick Worm first spent 7 days in Denali National Park camping at Wonder Lake and backpacking into two backcountry Units. A Toklat River drama and a grizzly bear strolling through one backcountry site were highlights. Then, joining a guide on a journey much further north above the Arctic Circle for 10 days, they traced the footsteps of Bob Marshall in Gates of the Arctic National Park. Marshall explored and named many features there during the decade of 1929-1939 as documented in the book Alaska Wilderness which served as a guide for the customized no trail itinerary including flying to a wilderness lake and from a gravel bar, crossing Peregrine Pass, and tussocks. Slides and stories will share the wonder.

8:30 PM: Clean-up; dish washing/drying (VOLUNTEERS WELCOME); calendar sales; displays.
A Halloween Camp-out at Dick and Jane Worm's Mississippi River Faraway Farm about 8 miles south of Dubuque off St. Catherine Road is held in conjunction with the dinner with primitive camping offered Friday night, Oct. 27, and/or Saturday night, Oct. 28. Enjoy day-hikes, campfires, night-hikes, & pumpkin decorating/carving. Please RSVP Dick Worm for details/directions

VOLUNTEER contributions for the dinner increase the fundraising level of success.
