The Group EXCOM thanks all who made the 2007 Turkey Dinner Fundraiser another success.
Receipts including cash contributions ($390), calendar sales ($206.20), and dinner reservations came to nearly $1200. Major cash contributors were Ron Myrom, Joe Garrity, John and Regina Brennan, and Carol and Lee McClenahan. Other cash contributions came from Janet and Joan Packard, Ralph and Ruth Scharnau, Kevin and Leslie Kane, Robert and Joyce Brittain, Dave Weitz, Jim Fahrion, and Dick Weber.
Expenses of $100 to Jane Worm for 3 turkeys and other food; $25 for use of church Social Room; $60 for program speaker; and $60 for one organic turkey came to $245.
Food-related donations were a barbecued turkey by Bill Jamison; roasting an organic turkey by Charlie and Gretel Winterwood; additional foods and drinks by Jane Worm; dressing by Kevin Jane; cranberries by Margreet Ryan and Regina Brennan; desserts by--AT LEAST--Joan Higley, John Brennan, Becky Reisch, Jim Fahrion, Annette Michaels, Mary Ann Rolling, Gary Thompson, and Natalee Colyer; squash by Cathy Elwell; and applesauce by Sara Zaccaro.
Door and pumpkin prizes were contributed by Margreet Ryan, Regina Brennan, Natalee Colyer, and Dick and Jane Worm.
Sierra Club member Barb Anderson of Roosevelt Middle School coordinated attendance to the campout and dinner for about 24 6th-8th graders accompanied by other teachers and parents. They camped at Faraway Farm; fished; day and night-hiked there, caved pumpkins for Turkey Dinner display and prizes, and had a Nature Scavenger Hunt.
The program by Daryl Smith reminded us of the historic and still needed values of natural prairies.
